Get Involved

We strive to develop positive and respectful partnerships with parents/carers and families and welcome participation in our programs through kinder duty. Our centre values family and community involvement, and we appreciate families sharing any special talents, celebrations, etc.

There are a number of different ways you can get involved; for more information please contact our office staff or speak to one of the educators.

Join the Committee of Management

Beaconsfield Kindergarten is run by a Committee of Management, which meets monthly. There are many different roles on the committee ranging from president to general members. Positions for the Committee of Management are allocated at the Annual General Meeting each February, and all families, friends and the community are invited to attend.

Being part of the committee provides you with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the Beaconsfield Kindergarten and how it operates. The committee oversees areas including fundraising, staff employment and development, fees, grants and allocation of kinder funds. The committee also helps drive the overall strategic direction of the kinder.

The work load you may be required to take on is as greatly varied as the positions so if you’re interested there is sure to be a position to suit you.

Fundraising – keeping our kinder thriving

Our kinder is one of the few committee-run kindergartens in the Casey and Cardinia areas. While government funding covers the basic costs of our programs, our kinder relies on the support of families through fundraising to ensure we keep our kinder running as wonderfully as it does with great resources.

Fundraising not only helps with key items such as toys, books, games and play equipment, it also helps fund key facility upgrades such as landscaping works and ongoing maintenance.

Beaconsfield Kinder has a fundraising subcommittee which organises several fundraising events throughout the year including raffles, trivia nights, kids’ discos and BBQs.

You can help with fundraising in several ways:
- Volunteer to help organise fundraising events - either join or offer to help the sub-committee.
- Donations - at several different events we raffle products and services to raise money. If you, your family or friends have the ability to donate something, it would be most
appreciated. Anything is welcome.
- Attend and get involved – Do your best to come along to the events that we hold and don’t forget to tell your friends and family.

Providing parental support for excursions

Each group undertakes a number of excursions throughout the year and we always welcome the extra support and help of parents/carers.

Contributing resources to support to the educational program

From bottle tops and cardboard boxes for arts and crafts; to second hand books for programs, there are always ways you can contribute to the kinder. Educators will keep you updated with things you might have at home to support your group’s needs.

Sharing your skills and knowledge

Do you know how to use a drill? Are you handy with a camera? Or do you have a trailer? We are always looking for a range of skills and resources to help with small and large tasks throughout the year. Please let us know if there are any specific skills or resources you can bring to the kinder community.

Helping in class during session times (kinder duty)

Parents/carers are welcome to volunteer in class throughout the year. It is an invaluable way to deepen your understanding of what happens day to day in the kinder room and further engage with your child and their peers. Sign up sheets for kinder duty will be located near the sign-in book once kinder duty starts, or speak directly with your child’s educator for more information.
